A year ago I started a new journey: acrylic painting!

With that said, I am closing up the doll clothes shop. I will no longer be making new doll clothes unless it’s a custom order or a gift. Please go over to Phoenix Fabric Art’s Etsy shop to check out the sale that goes until October 24th.  I will be renewing the sale until stock is depleted.

So this art journey….

It all started a year ago. I saw Paint N Sips popping up everywhere in town. I really wanted to paint a Pop Art painting of my dog, Ossa. I did and it turned out… meh. So I turned to Youtube and discovered The Art Sherpa, Cinnamon Cooney. I have been a Sherpette ever since.  She is encouraging, teaches in simple terms, and man she is my kind of fun! Quirky and hilarious! If you like silent speed painting videos, then she isn’t for you. But if you want a down to Earth woman who just wants you to have fun while learning to paint, subscribe to her channel and become a Sherpette! Because of the skills I learned from her, I have been able paint on my own with my own designs. Which led to my series, Scrutin-eyes. Everyone’s eyeballs seem to be on the central eyeball stock, but why? Is it scrutiny, or is it protection, or it is admiration? In life we may feel all eyes on us (like in a new journey… hmmm…) but the intentions of others may not be the scrutiny we fear.

Keep on arting!

It’s been a great week of no sewing and focusing on social media. My hands are rested and now my mind is full of ideas!

I follow Jason Miles (from makesellgrow.com) on Pinterest and have been working on applying what I’ve learned from what he pins. My photography has improved so much! I’ve made a banner for Facebook and Etsy. Oh, and most important, I posted 6 outfits on Etsy!

Back in the day, we used to use Gimp photo editor on our computer that ran Linux. I reinstalled it on our Windows computer and man, I need some refreshers. Thank God for YouTube. Check out the banner I made, I will make a better one once I have learned more.

I have also increased my presence on Pinterest and Instagram and took some pointers from the experienced. Pin less about me, like and comment on other people’s work, and space out posts.

At the vendor show last week, I promised that I would send out updates and let people know when I got my Etsy shop up and running. So I sent out my first newsletter to my little group of followers. MailChimp turned out to be a great resource for newsletter creation and subscriber management.

What a great week of learning! Be sure to follow me on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook

Have wonderful weekend everyone,

Jolene
