A year ago I started a new journey: acrylic painting!

With that said, I am closing up the doll clothes shop. I will no longer be making new doll clothes unless it’s a custom order or a gift. Please go over to Phoenix Fabric Art’s Etsy shop to check out the sale that goes until October 24th.  I will be renewing the sale until stock is depleted.

So this art journey….

It all started a year ago. I saw Paint N Sips popping up everywhere in town. I really wanted to paint a Pop Art painting of my dog, Ossa. I did and it turned out… meh. So I turned to Youtube and discovered The Art Sherpa, Cinnamon Cooney. I have been a Sherpette ever since.  She is encouraging, teaches in simple terms, and man she is my kind of fun! Quirky and hilarious! If you like silent speed painting videos, then she isn’t for you. But if you want a down to Earth woman who just wants you to have fun while learning to paint, subscribe to her channel and become a Sherpette! Because of the skills I learned from her, I have been able paint on my own with my own designs. Which led to my series, Scrutin-eyes. Everyone’s eyeballs seem to be on the central eyeball stock, but why? Is it scrutiny, or is it protection, or it is admiration? In life we may feel all eyes on us (like in a new journey… hmmm…) but the intentions of others may not be the scrutiny we fear.

Follow me on my Instagram account to keep up with my art journey.

Keep on arting!

I know… I’ve been pretty silent. I’ve taken a step back from sewing to explore a new interest called Zentangle. Basically, Zentangles are a form of doodling that inspires creativity, acceptance, and peace. I love it and have become kinda addicted to it.

I have been participating in weekly challenges at I am the Diva -CZT, MadebyJoey, and The Bright Owl.

Yes, I have been sewing a little too. I have been working on a purse for the Sew Powerful project through Liberty Jane Clothing. I also have been commissioned to make a PJ set for a little girl’s new Disney Animator Doll! Her grandma chose the Doll Tag Clothing pattern called Slumberland.

Family Motto Canvas

At the last Stake Conference a speaker talked about helping to bring your family closer by establishing a family motto. This motto contains what’s important to you and your family. I decided to make this for my father and ma. I will also make one for my other parents and add some scripture based values.

To tackle this project, I used the letters of our last name to start each sentence. The background are the colors of our family crest and tartan.

I spray painted the background red and used yellow acrylic paint and stencils for our last name. Then I wrote the values out in pencil and went over them with a paintbrush and green acrylic paint.

Here’s how it turned out! I do plan on going over green with another coat mixed with a tad bit of white to lighten it up.
